What began as small group of individuals, led by Level I and II Cossfit Coach, Francis Gangle, meeting twice a week outside a local gym turned into a growing community. Those who once called themselves the Enduro-Team had a common interest in testing their limits in obstacle course races and crossfit elements, known as functional fitness. This group using mostly Coach Francis’ personal equipment was soon able to move into a more proper setting known as The Cross Training Fitness Center in July 2016. Yeniz Parton, a member of Enduro-Team and also a Spartan SGX Coach and Obstacle Coach Specialist shared the same fitness philosophy.
About a year later new owners, Mike and Natalie Spencer, brought their passion, support and initiative to reinforce and refine the vision of bringing functional fitness to the community. Utilizing Mike, Natalie, Coach Francis, and Yeniz’s strengths culminated in creating a unified team vision; to offer anyone in the Fayetteville area and beyond to be fit and live with greater wellness regardless of whether they are a fitness champion or have not gotten off the couch. “Train Outside the Box” has become their motto.
Now that “The Center,” as it’s been nicknamed, has had time to reflect on what the needs of the community are and what more they can do to offer that would benefit those desires expansion has begun and is almost complete. The Dirty Gym, located directly behind the building, is finished and will allow a spacious venue for functional fitness classes, open gym and more.
